Fossa drawing in ink

The fossa is the largest carnivorous mammal in Madagascar. Although it has vertical pupils and other features similar to a cat, it’s more closely related to the mongoose. Its main diet is lemurs. Micron pen and white gel pen on Moleskine sketchbook, 4″ x 4″.

Spiderpigeon drawing in ink

“Spiderpigeon”. This is the brainchild of my 8-year-old son, so I drew her. He laughed when I showed her to him, so I think I did it right. Part black widow, part rock dove, all street smart. Whimsical, or terrifying? Micron pen on Moleskine sketchbook, 4″x4″.

Red panda painting in ink and watercolor

The red panda is a carnivorous mammal once thought to be related to the Giant Panda. It likewise lives in China and feeds on bamboo. But genetic studies have shown us that red pandas are related to raccoons, while Giant Pandas are true bears. I took my reference photo at the San Francisco Zoo while this cutie was eating. Micron pen, white gel pen, and watercolor on Moleskine sketchbook. 3.5″x3.5″.
