This is my master copy of Gorey’s “The Doubtful Guest” in ink. I’m on a big Edward Gorey kick lately. I’m reading Amphigorey to my son, and listening to his biography “Born to Be Posthumous” in the car. His dark storytelling and artwork have inspired some of our other favorite storytellers, from “Lemony Snickett” to Neil Gaiman to Tim Burton. I wanted to study his line work more intimately, so I copied one of my favorite pages from his books. Micron pen on Moleskine sketchbook paper, 7″ x 5″.
Work in progress on a Lykoi, or werewolf cat. It’s a breed that’s only ten years old. “Ozzy”, 6″x6″ on hot press cotton paper.
