Chalk It Up to Sacramento is a chalk art festival that raises money to provide art grants for K-12 schools in the Sacramento region. This weekend was my 19th year as a volunteer artist, and I completed two squares together. My sponsor was City of Rocklin Mini Maker Faire, which is a wonderful event in October.

My drawing here is of a Red-billed Hornbill, a native of sub-Saharan Africa. This particular guy is a cutie I photographed at the Sacramento Zoo in August.

This artwork is about 8.5 feet wide by 5.5 feet tall. I used a combination of Prang artist chalks and chalk pastel sticks.
